Dental chart

Digital dental chart software for clinics

Mark a condition, plan the treatment and price it in the same pass. Every tooth carries its own history — procedures, x-rays, notes, canals and consent — and the status colours are the ones your team already uses at the chair.

Chart tooth by tooth, surface by surface

The chart is interactive rather than a picture of a mouth. Select a tooth or a single surface, apply a condition or a procedure, and it is recorded against that tooth for good, visible to every chair and every branch that opens the file.

  • Universal and FDI notation, switchable per user
  • Surfaces, conditions and procedures on the same chart
  • Mixed dentition for paediatric patients, tooth by tooth as they erupt
  • Perio charting with pocket depths and bleeding points
  • Root canal records per tooth, with the number of canals treated

Plan and price treatment in one pass

A planned procedure carries its price from your price list, so a treatment plan is also a quotation. Send it, let the patient approve and sign it online, and what they signed becomes the plan your team works from and the invoice that follows.

  • Planned, in progress and completed states per tooth
  • Quotations generated from the plan and signed electronically
  • Insurance price lists applied automatically per company
  • Stage the work across visits, with instructions for the patient

The whole patient record hangs off the chart

X-rays, clinical photographs, notes, prescriptions and consent attach to the tooth they belong to rather than to a folder somewhere. Anyone picking the case up mid-treatment sees what was done, by whom, and why.

  • X-rays and a photo gallery per tooth
  • Electronic prescriptions and consent forms
  • A timeline of every operation with the doctor who performed it
  • Materials deducted from stock as procedures complete

Who the chart is built for

The chart is the screen a dentist looks at most, so it has to be quick at the chair and readable by everyone else.

Dentists and specialists

Chart, plan and price without leaving the tooth, with perio, endo and paediatric charting in the same record.

Associates and locums

Open a case someone else started and see the condition, the plan and the notes attached to each tooth.

Multi-chair clinics

One chart per patient that every chair and every branch reads, instead of a paper record that exists in one room.

Paper odontogram versus a digital chart

A paper chart records what happened. A digital one records it, prices it and bills it.

Doing it by hand

  • A chart that exists in one room
  • Conditions written in pencil
  • Pricing worked out separately
  • Consent on a paper form
  • History lost when the file is full

With Dentolize

  • A chart every chair and branch can open
  • Conditions stored per tooth and per surface, with dates
  • Price carried from the price list as you plan
  • Consent signed on screen and attached to the tooth
  • Full history kept for the life of the patient
Questions

Dental chart — frequently asked

What is a digital dental chart?

It is an interactive record of the mouth that replaces the paper odontogram. Each tooth and each surface can carry conditions, planned and completed procedures, notes, x-rays and consent, and every entry is attributed to the doctor who made it.

Does it support both Universal and FDI notation?

Yes, and each user can choose which they prefer without changing the underlying record, so a visiting specialist can work in the notation they know.

Can I chart children with mixed dentition?

Yes. The chart switches to primary teeth and lets you mark individual teeth as permanent as they erupt, so the record follows the patient through the transition.

Does the chart handle perio and endo?

Yes. Perio charting records pocket depths and bleeding points, and canal treatment is recorded per tooth including the number of canals.

Can the patient sign the treatment plan online?

Yes. The plan can be sent as a priced quotation the patient approves and signs electronically, and the signed version is stored on their file.
